A State of Their Own

We are all extremely proud to be a part of the vision for the future of Palestine
A quote from the American International School in Gaza, which was robbed and trashed a day before Bush’s visit to the autonomous Palestinian region. I love GB but sometimes I don’t know what planet he comes from. He can’t really believe he can accomplish peace in the Middle East yet I guess as POTUS he has to try.

Gaza under brutal Zionist ocupation

Gaza under Palistinian rule

Lobna Al-Rayes, who teaches five year olds at the school said, "we teach children how to live in peace". That and the fact that the state department pays for the school and it has the name America in it are enough to make it a target. Who exactly wants peace? Arab leaders want to keep the Palestinians in camps breeding generation after generation of Jew hating terrorists.

Who did the Palestinians elect as their representatives? Hamas. Hamas’ charter calls for the destruction of Israel. Any peace would be a hudna: "if Muslims are weak, a truce may be made for ten years if necessary, for the Prophet made a truce with the Quraysh for that long, as is related by Abu Dawud" ('Umdat as-Salik, o9.16).

You can't have peace until one side accepts defeat, something many Americans don’t understand. You can’t just “stop the war” without surrender, unless you are winning and willing to accept stalemate, but why would any sane person “stop the war” when you are winning? We did in Nam. Many want us to do the same in Iraq. Obviously we aren’t asking Israel to do anything we haven’t done but then we have never been under the knife as Israel has been since it’s recent inception. We survived Nam, we would survive retreating in Iraq albeit with many American lives lost in future attacks, but Israel cannot survive any retreat and we should not pressure them to do so.

The Left (in both the U.S. and Israel) has the perverted pacifist belief that a military solution is unattainable in any situation and should be avoided at all costs. They will sabotage any attempt at a military solution to prove the validity of their pacifist ideology.

Bush has the misguided belief that democracies don't engage in war against other democracies. If the Palestinians could simply build a democratic nation, they would end their war against Israel, because Palestine and Israel would both be democracies.

Both solutions are doomed to fail miserably.

If you had a headache, would you rather be hit in the head with a hammer or a rock? Both are going to hurt, and you are still going to have a headache in the end.

The solution to this may be in Robert Kaplan's book, Warrior Politics. It's an ugly solution, but letting this situation fester as it has for the past 60 years is even uglier. Unfortunately the folks who call themselves Palestinians will never knuckle under until they are humiliated militarily and loose the will to fight. A good start though would be to stop giving them guns and money.
